Lot 15 18th Century Flintlock Blunderbuss

Circa 1740-1780's blunderbuss with English style brass mounts. 22' heavy iron barrel with Damascus finish, barrel is proofed, and lock is signed, but can't make them out. Bore diameter is about 1 3/4'. Side plate is similar to the "banana' Brown Bess style plate. The brass escutcheon is also in the Brown Bess style. Steel ramrod. Two cock action works fine. Metal has turned a gray/brown patina, there is a small loss of wood at the rear of the lock where an internal spring knocked out a section.
